Ingredients: 100% organic virgin coconut oil
Virigin is extracted from the coconut using a different extraction method or the best part of the coconut oil; hence the price is double compared to regular coconut oil. Also, the antioxidants and aroma flavor of the virgin coconut oil are also better than the regular coconut oil.
1. Extraction method
Regular coconut oil is made from desiccated coconut kernels called 'copra'. The copra is pressed, extracted oil is refined, decolorized and bleached. This process makes it suitable for consumption but extracts all natural values. On the other hand, virgin coconut oil is extracted from the fresh coconut milk using a cold process that preserves all of the oil's natural constituents, aroma, antioxidants and better fatty acids.
2. Composition
The energy content of both virgin coconut oil and regular oil is the same. However, since regular coconut oil is hydrogenated, it may contain some trans fat. But virgin coconut oil is rich in medium chain fatty acids, has good cholesterol and almost negligible amounts of trans fatty acids.
3. Appearance
While both normal and virgin coconut oil may look the same, the former may have a bit more color. Virgin coconut oil is also non-greasy and has a lighter viscosity.
4. Purity
Since virgin coconut oil is extracted from coconut milk, it has a better smell and taste compared to the regular ones. Virgin coconut oil also has a luscious, tropical coconut scent and taste. On the other hand, the normal one has artificial smell and taste.
